If you don't find what you're looking for, feel free to give us a call.Hobbs & Hopkins Ltd. has sold traditional lawn seed for many years and it has continually come to our attention that these grasses require frequent maintenance, lots of water, and fertilizer. So, in conjunction with, and as a result of tests conducted at Oregon State University, our line of ecology seed mixes were created to address these problems.
Our ecology mixes contain legumes which naturally replenish nitrogen in the soil to feed the other plants in the mix, so no foreign fertilizer must be applied to keep it healthy. Our ecology seed mixes have been created to be an alternative to traditional lawns because of their self fertilizing properties, dwarfed growth, and drought tolerances.

Fragrant Herbal
Fragrant Herbal contains Roman Chamomile that gently releases a sweet smelling scent when walked on or mowed. It also has Sweet Alyssum and Strawberry Clover combined with hardy, low-growing grasses and other herbaceous plants. Enjoy the interesting textures in this herbal lawn and experience the sweet fragrance when the wind blows.
PDX
Flexibility is the key word when describing PDX Seed Mixture. From unmowed highway banks to the casual backyard lawn, PDX provides year round green cover under all levels of maintenance; mowed or unmowed. This is the alternative to tall grass and lawns that turn brown during the summer.
PR8820 Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass and Eureka Hard Fescue, combine with low-growing herbaceous plants and clovers to produce a green cover with minimal irrigation….and normally requires no fertilizer after establishment.
Eureka is the outstanding new generation hard fescue bred for a reduced rate of vertical growth, excellent density, superior disease resistance and an adaptability to a wide range of soil and climatic conditions, including sun and shade. Eureka has a lower demand for water and fertilizer when compared with most other cool season grasses. PR8820, coupled with Eureka Hard Fescue, forms the perfect foundation for the herbaceous plants and clover in this mixture.
Yarrow Millefolium is a small perennial with soft feather-like foliage. Unmowed, it will bloom all summer with an attractive small white flower. It provides green cover when the grasses go dormant. Alyssum also provides green color and produces tiny white flowers throughout the first season.
Pipolina Micro-Clover forms a lush green cover in summer. O’Connor’s Strawberry Clover does the same with an added bonus of dainty pink flowers. Both are nitrogen fixing legumes.
PDX Plus
PDX Plus combines the low-growing green cover of PDX with colorful wildflowers to provide an aesthetically pleasing ground cover for soil stabilization or low maintenance areas. From unmowed highway banks to the casual meadow, PDX Plus provides green cover year round with minimal irrigation, and the added bonus of colorful wildflowers.
PDX Plus is designed to be unmowed.

PDX Habitat
The newest member of our ecology seed line, PDX Habitat features select plant species that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. The low maintenance aspects of all of our ecology mixes provide the backbone for this one, with dwarf grasses and clovers providing a green, low-maintenance turf. In addition, Yarrow, Lupine, Lemon Mint, Butterfly Weed, and Godetia have been selected as the special components in this mix to provide a colorful planting. PDX Habitat is designed to be left unmowed, for a casual meadow appearance.
ProTime 1000 -The Green Lawn
A new alternative lawn mix for those desiring a low-maintenance turf, this blend combines dwarf perennial ryegrass with white yarrow and our new Pipolina micro-clover. The Green Lawn provides excellent drought-tolerance, with the added bonus of infrequent mowing (about once a month). And thanks to Pipolina micro-clover, no additional fertilizer is needed after establishment.
ProTime 1500 - The Green Lawn Plus
Another ecologically friendly mix, the Green Lawn Plus brings even more drought tolerance to the water-conscious homeowner. It is comprised of a combination of Turf-Type Tall Fescue, White Yarrow, and Pipolina MicroClover to provide an appealing alternative to the traditional high-maintenance lawn. Less mowing, less water, and no fertilizing are just some of the big benefits to planting this seed mix.
ProTime Rough & Ready
One more option for those looking to spend less time maintaining their lawn this season! Pipolina MicroClover, once again, has been added to Sheep Fescue, Hard Fescue, and Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass for an exceptionally low-growing, drought tolerant lawn alternative. The tiny, dense growth habit of our MicroClover blends nicely with the other dwarf grasses to give a tidy appearance year round.
