Fleur de Lawn

Fleur de Lawn is an eco-friendly, low maintence, flowering lawn alternative.
The blend requires minimal water after establishment, stays green without fertilizer, and needs little mowing.
English daises and other small flowers combine with low-growing foliage and a special variety of dwarf perennial rye grass to create a very appealing ground cover.
The blend was developed from research at Oregon State University on landscapes easier on the environment than traditional turf lawns. Fleur de Lawn eliminates the need for synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, irrigated water, and frequent mowing that traditional lawns require.

Fleur de Lawn uses PR8820 Perennial Rye grass, a true dwarf perennial rye grass. Its short height, coupled with its fine, soft texture lends itself to providing the perfect backdrop for the small flowers and blooming clover in the self-contained herbaceous lawn.
It also contains european English Daisy (Bellis perennis), a short rosette with pink to white daisy-like flowers, and Baby Blue Eyes (Nemophila menziesii), a small plant with delicate foliage and tiny blue and white flowers, varying in height
Dwarf Yarrow (Achillea millefolium), a small variety with soft, feather-like foliage, adds extreme drought tolerance and its deep roots aid erosion control. O’Connor’s Strawberry Clover (Trifolium fragiferum), a low-growing and self sustaining legume, provides nitrogen to fertilize the other plants. The yarrow and clover stays green during summer as the rye goes dormant.
Frequency of mowing is up to individual preference, but most mow every three weeks in the spring, never in summer or winter, and once in the fall.
Just scatter seed over prepared soil, rake it in, and water. To replace existing lawns, remove turf with rototiller or sod cutter first.
The recomended seeding rate for Fleur de Lawn is 1 lb per 1000 sf – much less than the 6-12 lbs. needed by turf lawns. This is important to follow as the perennial rye grass will crowd out the other plants if seeded too dense.
